As Rajasthan is primarily an arid State with low rainfall, instead of water-intensive crops we should rather push for less water-intensive crops in order to have optimal water utilization. A lot of water can be saved if we can balance both types of crops. Olives, Dates are less water intensive but high-income crops. So we can boost the cultivation of these crops in our dry areas by bringing innovative/technological solutions. Companies can partner with countries that are having best practices as they have a similar climate like Rajasthan and are best innovators in agriculture with new age drip/harvesting technologies.
