Rajasthan is the largest producer of Wool in India but still most, of the high-end wool processing (pre-loom & post loom) factories are located in Punjab, Haryana & Maharashtra. In spite of being the biggest wool producer, we are not fully exploiting the manufacturing & processing potential which otherwise could yield greater profits to our State and in turn generate a lot of employment.Currently, only Bikaner district has the biggest wool market but other districts are lacking. We need to encourage companies who can incorporate the best of technology solutions for boosting the sector in Rajasthan. As wool produced in Rajasthan is best used for Carpets and Rugs, we can incidentally apply for GI tag for such items coming out of our State.
