Challenge Detail

Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) Platform for Universal Agri-Extension Reach

Drones offer significant potential for spraying, crop-health monitoring and land mapping, but current adoption is concentrated in select districts, constrained by limited operator capacity and regulatory clarity.

Existing Issues & Gaps

  • Limited service coverage in remote, rural and tribal blocks.
  • High per-hectare service cost for small and marginal farmers.
  • Shortage of licensed Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) holders.
  • Fragmented regulatory compliance (DGCA Digital Sky, State nodal clearance) with no integration into departmental/KVK systems.

Expected Outcomes & Desired Solution

A scalable DaaS platform with a demand-aggregation and booking engine, Digital Sky/UIN-based regulatory-compliance workflows, subsidised service-fee models routed through DBT, a standardised RPC training/certification pipeline in partnership with KVKs, and API-level integration with Agristack/departmental portals for flight-log and application-data capture.

Key Stakeholders & Beneficiaries
